FAQ's and HintsHANDY HINTEver wish you had a third hand when attaching rings to your finished window? An easy solution is to apply a liberal amount of flux onto a piece of scrap glass then melt a generous ball of solder into the pool of flux. Before the solder solidifies, bury the opening of you pre-fluxed ring into the ball of solder and allow to cool. While holding the ring in place with a pliers, again apply flux to both the ring and metal framing material and thourghly melt the solder for a good bond. If your iron tip is too hot, cool down the tip by wiping thoroughly with your dampened sponge before soldering the ring in place. GLASS FACTSAlways score on the correct side of the glass. An easy way to distinguish the difference is hold the glass so the light shines on the surface - flip it over and compare surfaces. The smoothest, slickest side is the one you score on. |
